Technical Operations Manager

The Victorian Partnership for Advanced Computing (VPAC) is an incorporated Advanced Computing R&D service provider, established in 2000 by a consortium of Victorian Universities. Since it’s founding VPAC has grown to over 60 staff at 4 locations in Victoria. VPAC provides services to universities, industry, government, and other organizations and is the Lead Agent for national NCRIS programs.

VPAC provides Australian researchers with access to state of the art Supercomputers and advanced data management, visualisation and collaboration tools, as well as software development expertise. VPAC provide services, training and support in Advanced Computing as well as professional R&D services in the fields of Engineering, Geophysics, Health, Life Sciences, Spatial Information and Grid Computing. Our aim is to help Australian researchers utilise Advanced Computing to create innovations that will place Australia at the forefront of scientific research and development.

The Technical Operations Manager supervises the day-to-day operations and projects of the commercial arm of VPAC to facilitate delivery of positive project and customer outcomes. The role is a key management position, as it is essential to the profitability and growth of VPAC‘s commercial business in Advanced Computing.

We are seeking an experienced appointee with strong and diverse commercial project management experience, ideally gained within a medium-sized company or division, with a strong IT background. Excellent analytical and people management skills are also essential. The successful applicant will be self motivated and be able to objectively approach issues; and have superior oral and written skills.
