Victorian Partnership for Advanced Computing

VicTorii has been in development for over 3 years and is the combined effort of the close working relationship between AutoCRC and VPAC. AutoCRC's business knowledge of running CRCs and VPAC's ability to use innovative new technologies to codify these requirements, enabled the creation of a project management web application trademarked VicTorii.

The technology was an early adopter of such concepts as Web 2.0, AJAX and Cloud computing. Using PHP on the server side and JavaScript on the client side with the assistance of Dojo javaScript toolkit, VicTorii also gleaned ideas from the cloud computing paradigm. By passing complex and compute intensive calculations back to the server, VicTorii enhances usability and responsiveness for our customers (host organisations) and end users.

VicTorii shows that bleeding edge technologies can be combined in creative ways and applied to a commercial application. It improves the quality of R&D portfolio management through the use of templates, reuse of existing data and reduction of manual re-work and re-entry of data across legacy spreadsheets. As each project is version controlled, traceability of changes to individual project entries, approvals or the entire portfolio can be monitored and easily audited.
