The Victorian Partnership for Advanced Computing (VPAC) is a leading Advanced Computing R&D service provider, a not for profit registered research agency established in 2000 by a consortium of Victorian Universities.

VPAC provides Australian researchers with access to state of the art Supercomputers and advanced Visualisation, Collaboration and Management tools, as well as sophisticated Software Development expertise. We provide services, training and support in Advanced Computing as well as professional R&D services in the fields of Engineering, Geophysics, Health, Life Sciences, Spatial Information and Grid Computing.

Our aim is to help Australian researchers utilize Advanced Computing to create innovations that will place Australia at the forefront of scientific research and development.

VPAC has broad software development experience across a wide range of industries, research areas, and technologies. VPAC’s unique structure means that technically minded software developers and subject matter experts are brought together with software best practice and the latest domain knowledge to deliver successful customized solutions to real-world problems.

Our new Software Developer will possess a sound working knowledge of:

- PhP for server side application coding
- Javascript coding using the Dojo 1.2-1.3.2 Ajax libraries
- Experience in development with WaveMaker
- Subversion as source code control mechanism
- Experience in debugging applications in a client server environment

We are also interested in hearing from you if you possess the following:

- Web content management systems such as Plone and/or Django
- Java coding capabilities
- Knowledge of XHTML, CSS and related web standards
- Experience developing server-side PHP applications
- Familiarity with RDBMS and SQL
- Understanding of web security issues (e.g. cross-site scripting, SQL-injection)
- Familiarity with XML and related processing technologies (e.g. XSLT, XPath)
- Familiarity with REST and/or SOA architectural styles an advantage experience in using virtualized servers

A salary package of $55,000pa will be offered to the successful applicant.
This position is offered full-time, however consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work on a part-time or flexible basis. Reporting to the Team Leader – Web Applications you will work with a team of innovative and highly qualified developers who love what they do.
